THE KENRIDGE DEVELOPMENT//
Landscape architecture is the key to CE’s success on the Kenridge Development project. Built on the site of a century’s old manor home that once served as national headquarters of the Kappa Sigma fraternity in Charlottesville, Virginia, the civil engineering design of this development honored and preserved the site’s old-growth trees and integrated the original rock wall on the property into its road design. Private garden courtyards and brick sidewalks were also designed outside of each of the development’s houses, lining the roads and creating a pedestrian friendly neighborhood.
Storm water management also required a thoughtful approach to the pastoral setting at Kenridge. CE’s design allowed storm water run-off to flow into tiered bio-filters. This system was designed to prevent harmful pollutants from entering the watershed while preserving and adding to the beauty of the property’s landscape.
